Windows 7 operating system with and without Active Directory (AD) but on a campus network (wired or wireless).

Windows 7 without AD steps 1-4.

  1. Download a copy of LinkCAD.
  2. Download a license file and place the file ( in your LinkCAD program folder (for example C:\Program Files\LinkCAD 7).
    You may get this error shown below. If you do please complete these extra steps to get the license working.

  3. Accessing the LinkCAD network license:
    1. Open a Windows Explorer window (Windows Key + E).
    2. In the location bar, type the following:
    3. Wait for some time. In a few moments you should be challenged for authentication.
    4. Use the following username (Replace internetID with your own UMN internetID):\internetID
    5. Enter your UMN internetID password in the password field.
    6. Check the box to save/remember your credentials and click OK.
    7. Test LinkCAD.
  4. The license can be verified in LinkCAD by navigating to 'Help -> About LinkCAD'. It should say "NET" if this works (shown below).

Tanner Tools Install Instructions

  1. Download Tanner Tools. 32-bit for Windows - 64-bit for Windows
  2. Install Tanner Tools by double-clicking the installer. When presented with the install menu choose Install > Install Products.
  3. After installation is complete configure licensing. In your start menu you should find Mentor Graphics Licensing > Configure Licensing.
  4. In the Configure Licensing window, select Point to a license server.
  5. Enter as the port number and hostname. Clicking Test should indicate success.
  6. Tanner Tools is now ready for use.
  7. Remember that you have to be on a UMN network (wired, wireless, VPN) to checkout a license.

New Probe Station
MNC has installed a new probe station generously donated by EverBeing International Corporation headquartered in Taiwan. This new probe station will greatly enhance our capabilities in DC and low frequency electrical characterization, and will be located in Area 3 (1-132) in Keller Hall.
